[Kyoto University Library Network] Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive (test version) has been released

Kyoto University Library Network released Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive (test version) on September 7, 2017.

Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive has viewers enabling the smooth display of high-definition images, and is compliant with the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF). We will continuously transfer the data from the previous system to this new digital archive, while examining and implementing methods of data publication using the features of IIIF, in order to facilitate the use of digitized images of our collection.

As of September, 2017, Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive includes over 140,000 images of about 1,500 titles: Konjaku monogatarishu (Suzuka ver.) designated as national treasure, rare books designated as important cultural properties, well-known materials everybody has ever seen in textbooks at school, Nara ehon with beautifully colored illustrations, maps of a variety of places inside and outside of Japan, Meiji Restration Collection of historical records of the turbulent times at the end of the Edo period and at the beginning of the Meiji Era, Fujikawa Collection of medical books, etc...
These rare materials, which physical use is ordinarily limited for their preservation, are now available online in high-definition images.
