Review Function

What's Review Function?

  • Review Function is to post an introductory essay and a five-star scale rating on books, journals, e-books and e-journals in KULINE for providing the useful information about education and research among the students, faculty members and staff members.
  • This function is experimental for one year from March 1, 2013.
    After the trial period, it has become fully operational since March 1, 2014.

Review Registration

  • It is up to the respective faculty libraries to decide whether or not to use this function.
  • The library staff registers reviews, so faculty members and students cannot register reviews by themselves.
    Please contact your faculty library or the main library if you wish to register reviews. This form is also available for inquiries.
  • As for the review sentences to be posted and the open period, it is up to the respective faculty libraries to decide, and the reviews should meet the above purpose such as the following;
    1. The review sentences recommend materials which help our students learn something.
    2. The review sentences introduce materials such as textbooks or reference books used in classes.
  • Reviews such as the following are not allowed to be posted ;
    1. Contents unrelated to the material.
    2. Contents including defamation, slander or malicious intent against specific individuals or organizations.
    3. Contents for the purpose of a particular solicitation for religions or organizations.
    4. Contents including confidential matters or individual information.
    5. Contents that may cause any confusion or trouble to the users.
    6. Contents that may infringe intellectual properties, copyrights or other laws.
    7. Contents that may infringe the copyright, property or privacy of a third party.
    8. Contents that is offensive to public order and morals or offers a feeling of discomfort and repulsion to others.
    9. Contents including a discriminative, threatening or coercive expression.
    10. Other reviews whose contents that the library staff judge inappropriate to disclose to the public.
  • In disclosing a review, clearly describe the date of contribution/posting and the name of the library. As a general rule, the name of the contributor to a review is described, except for reviews prepared by the library staff.

How to search reviews

You can search the title and full text of reviews with the following four ways.

  1. Click on the Basic Search on [KU Search] tab and select "Review" below the search window to search.
  2. Click on the Basic Search" on [KU Search] tab and check the box of "contains review and tag" to search.
  3. Click on the "Advanced Search" on [KU Search] tab and choose "Review" field from the pull-down menu to search.
    (You can search by multiple conditions which are not available by Basic Search.)
  4. Select "Review" from Catalog Search menu to search.

Where will reviews be shown?

Review List
  • You can see the list of bibliographies with registered reviews on Review List.
  • Click on the RSS icon, and you can see the newly registered reviews with your RSS feed reader.
Bibliography Details
  • You can see the registered reviews at the Review field on Bibliography Details.

Review Evaluation

  • You can agree to reviews or report inappropriate reviews to the libraries.
  • In "Review Details," please click each of the following, log into MyKULINE and go to the entry screen.
    • Was this review helpful to you? Yes / No
    • Report this review as inappropriate.

Tag Function

What's Tag Function?

  • Tag Function is to classify review an tag on books, journals, e-books and e-journals in KULINE into group with a tag for providing the useful information about education and research among the students, faculty members and staff members.
  • This function is experimental for one year from March 1, 2013.

Tag Registration

  • As for the tag to be posted and the open period, it is up to the respective faculty libraries to decide, and the tags should meet the above purpose such as the following;
    1. Tags that classify those materials used as the textbooks or the reference books into groups.
    2. Tags that classify the books recommended by the library staff into groups.
    3. Tags that classify collections/bibliotheca or selection of books into groups.
  • The name of tags such as the following are not allowed to be posted ;

How to search tags

You can search the tags with the following four ways.

  1. Click on the Basic Search on [KU Search] tab and select "Tag" below the search window to search. Enter a keyword at Search Tags or click a tag in "New tags" "Recent tags" and "Popular tags" at the Search Tag.
  2. Click on the Basic Search" on [KU Search] tab and check the box of "contains review and tag" to search.
  3. Click on the "Advanced Search" on [KU Search] tab and choose "Tag" field from the pull-down menu to search.

Where will tags be shown?

  • You can see the registered tags at the Tag field on Bibliography Details.
  • You can report inappropriate tags to the libraries.
    In Bibliography Details, please click "Report Tag" behind "Tag," log into MyKULINE and go to the entry screen.
