【Yoshida-South Library】Partially open for limited service. (Update)

Library services with limitations

Yoshida-South Library is open with limitations in other to prevent Library users from the spread and contamination of covid 19,

We will be resuming new limited service from the 1st of June.
Reduced operating hours: 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday only.
The library operates on a limited basis:

[Access to collections]
Most collections at the library are open and available for use, except the special collections.
You can use the self-check machines to borrow from the collections in these locations.
Library offers library users can extend the borrowing period through MyKULINE up to three months unless other users have reserved them.

[Study spaces]
The sitting area on 1st and 2nd floor, AV rooms, Newspaper reading room, OSL(Open Space Laboratory) and Wa-On are closed.

[Book delivery service for KU members]
We continue to offer the book delivery service.
Books borrowed from YSL,will now be sent to the applicant home.
Only books from our Open and Closed stacks will be available to be lend out.
The books which have the status below are not available;
Missing/ Repair/ On hold shelf/ On loan/ Unknown/ In process

Users can apply for the service through MyKULINE.
It will take about a week to process your request.
In the service, users can apply as much as you like.Please try to apply collectively.
The library waived delivery charge (one-way). *The policy may change depends on the library's expenditure.
Users who can not access to MyKULINE, feel free to contact us by email below. We also would like you to check the detailed procedures.


[Notice]
In other to prevent Library users from the spread and contamination of covid 19,
in accordance with safety measures for all. The library will like to recommend that all users
make sure to use face mask at all times.
As a preventative measure, we will suggest that all our guests maintain safe distance from the others.
The library will ask all guests to move out and wait when it crowded with users.

【Yoshida-South Library】Partially open for limited service.

--Offering limited services at YSL--

This is to inform you of "Library service at Yoshida-South Library”.
Due to the current situation of COVID-19, we offer limited services as follows.

Temporarily closure of all our services from 7th to the 10th of May.
We will be resuming limited service from the 11th of May,The process is as follows.

We offer

1. Lending service for KU members

We start the book delivery service. Books borrowed from YSL,will now be sent to the applicant home.Only books from our Open and Closed stacks will be available to be lend out.
You can borrow books of YSL and receive them at your home. Only books at open stacks and closed stacks are available.
The books which have the status below are not available;

Missing/ Repair/ On hold shelf/ On loan/ Unknown/ In process

The books where it is located in “Laboratory” are not available.
It will take about a week to process your request.
To facilitate the distribusion process, we will also be introducing a pick up service, through a form filling process.
The another option is to request through the form and pick up at YSL also available.

2.Service for Faculty members.

For teachers of KU who need the books of YSL to preparing their lessons.
If teachers belong to KU needs the books of YSL, please apply on the form;

3.Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loans service for Yosida-South campus members

The service might be delayed due to the situation of other university libraries.

We will ask your delivery preference by email after we are ready to handle them.

 

5.Past entrance exam problems/questions collection of the Graduate School

7.Membership registration for Yosida-South campus members

Yosida-South campus members who do not have a student card or a KU IC card can resister for library cards by email. Please fill in the following application form and attach the data with the copy of your Notice of Employment issued by Kyoto University.

Note: Due to our the change of our working shift, the processing might be delay or not be able to meet your demands.

 

[Notice of Due date and returning books]

You can renew the due date again by using your MyKULINE.
When the book has been requested from others, it will not extended the due date.
Please return the book to our Book Shute or by post*.

*Set the delivery timezone from 9am to 5pm / Use package cushioning materials

Dear Users,

Although we always hope to provide you with the best experience, Kyoto University Katsura Library & Libraries of Faculty of Engineering (Yoshida) currently limit the services and the use of library facilities in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There is also a possibility that we need to further restrict our services, including shortening opening hours and closing the entire facility, depending on the changing public health situations. Katsura Library】Open partially restricting the services.

  • Those suspected to be infected are not admitted to the library.
  • We also ask those with symptoms typically caused by COVID-19 to refrain from visiting the library.The symptoms include fever, cough, sneezing and fatigue.
  • Admission to the library is limited to Kyoto University members (excluding graduates and retired faculty and staff) only.
  • Please read your student ID card or IC authentication card when entering or leaving the library.

■Please cooperate in measures against infectious diseases including COVID-19.

■Rare/semi-rare materials service suspension

  • Libraries of Faculty of Engineering suspend the use of all the materials stored in the rare materials storage and the semi-rare materials storage.

We will close 5 Libraries of Faculty of Engineering in Yoshida campus from Apr. 6, 2020 until the day to be determined.
If you want to borrow books in these libraries, please send your request through a web form.

Search on KULINE and check the title, holding Library and material ID.
