Overview of Online Services (MyKULINE)

Online services (MyKULINE) enable you to renew or reserve books, and request Interlibrary Loans through the website. The following services are currently available online:

The following services are available (through MyKULINE):
- Checking library status.
- Checking personal information.
- Checking library news.
- Renewing books (only once).
- Checking the status of Interlibrary Loan requests.
- Canceling Interlibrary Loan requests.

* When you extend through MyKULINE the due date of books you borrowed, the due date will be updated, starting from the renewed date. Please note that such online renewals do not extend the original due date.

Borrowing History ServiceYou can check your borrowing history. Please validate "Borrowing History" through the settings of MyKULINE.HELP

Interlibrary and Intercampus LoansIt is possible to request articles or books which are not available in Kyoto University Libraries (Interlibrary Loan) nor in your home campus (Intercampus Loan).
※Whether or not someone can use this service depends on the faculty to which they belong and method of payment.

How to apply

For Students

In order to use library online services, it is necessary to acquire both of the following,

(Students who have an IC student card and matriculated after 2015 need not apply.)

  1. Student card (undergraduate and graduate students); library card (other users).
  2. ECS-ID (i.e. a0******), which will serve as login ID.
  3. Application for MyKULINE (Example) : Please visit the Main Library or your home library. In addition, it is also possible for undergraduate and graduate students with IC student card to use Registration System for MyKULINE [available only on campus]. You can use MyKULINE the following day after registration.

You require permission from the person in charge of payment sign, if you would like to make an Interlibrary Loan request at PUBLIC expense. Please submit Application for MyKULINE to your faculty library (not main library).

In the case you do not have one of the two.
  • If you do not have a Student card / Library card, it is necessary to acquire it (how to acquire a card)
  • If you do not have an ECS-ID (student account) or you have any questions, please ask the service counter in South Building of the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies with your student card.

For Faculty and Staff Members

In order to use library online services, it is necessary to acquire both of the following,

  1. Staff card; Authentication IC Card; Library card.
  2. SPS-ID (e.g. taro123kyodai), which will serve as login ID.
  3. Application for MyKULINE (Example) : Please visit the Main Library or your home library. In addition, it is also possible for full-time faculty and staff to use Registration System for MyKULINE [available only on campus]. You can use MyKULINE the following day after registration.

LoginI could not login with ECS-ID. Why?There are 3 possibilities:
  1. ECS-ID or Password you input was incorrect.
  2. Your ECS-ID was expired.
  3. You need apply to library's online services.
If you can login to ECS-ID check tool, which means case 3, please apply to our online services (see How to apply in this page). It is also possible for undergraduate and graduate students with IC student card to use Registration System for MyKULINE [available only on campus]. You can use MyKULINE the following day after registration.
Otherwise (case 1 or 2), see the following entry "I forget my ID (ECS-ID, i.e.  a0******) or Password. How should I do?".

Now, the "OP-0901-E" error message may be shown and you may not be able to log in MyKULINE.
"OP-0901-E Due to the system error, the process has been suspended. Please contact the system administrator."
In that case, please refer to this news and delete cookies in the browser.
LoginI could not login with SPS-ID. Why?There are 2 possibilities:
  1. SPS-ID or Password you input was incorrect.
  2. You need apply to library's online services.
If you can login to Kyoto University Groupware, which means case 2, please apply to our online services (see How to apply in this page). It is also possible for full-time faculty and staff to use Registration System for MyKULINE [available only on campus]. You can use MyKULINE the following day after registration.
Otherwise (case 1), see the following entry "I forget my ID (SPS-ID, e.g. taro123kyodai) or Password. How should I do?".

Now, the "OP-0901-E" error message may be shown and you may not be able to log in MyKULINE.
"OP-0901-E Due to the system error, the process has been suspended. Please contact the system administrator."
In that case, please refer to this news and delete cookies in the browser.
LoginBefore I could logged into MyKULINE with ECS-ID, but now I cannot. I think my ECS-ID and password are right.

In this event, there are three possible reasons:

  1. Your ECS-ID is expired.
  2. Your library card is expired.
  3. You got an ECS-ID before March 2007, and your status has changed.

1.If the following case may apply to you, you need to apply to continue using your ECS-ID once a year. So, please visit ACCMS (Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies).
Also, ACCMS sends an e-mail every June to All University Mail address of the people who need to apply. Please follow the application procedure. If you don't use this mail address regularly, please set the message forwarding.

  • For Students : non-regular students such as research students, credited auditors and auditing students without IC student card expect for undergraduate and graduate students
  • For Faculty Members : non-regular faculty, and research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science without SPS-ID

2.If you are a student other than an undergraduate or a graduate student, for example, a research student, a non-degree student, an auditor, or if you are a part-time faculty member, the second case may apply to you. In this event, your library card may expired. Please update your card at the library.

3.If you got an ECS-ID before March 2007, and you status has changed, please submit Application for MyKULINE to the library.

LoginWhat are ID and Password?They are the same as those of Institute for Information Management and Communication (ECS-ID, i.e. a0******) or SPS-ID: an account used as the Kyoto University Groupware ID (SPS-ID, e.g. taro123kyodai). ECS-ID and SPS-ID have different passwords.
LoginI forget my student ID (ECS-ID, i.e. a0******) or Password. How should I do?Sorry but you need go to Media Center South Buildings Information Environment Support Center with your student or staff card. ("Information Environment Manual for Student", Appendix FAQ p.76)
LoginI forget my ID (SPS-ID, e.g. taro123kyodai) or Password. How should I do?Sorry but you need go to contact to Joho-Bu, Joho Suishin-Ka, Denshi Jimu-Kyoku Suisin-Kakari (Tel: 2198).
LoginI have logged in with ECS-ID before. Now, I would like to do so with SPS-ID.When you use library online services, you can register using ECS-ID or SPS-ID. If you have already registered ECS-ID as the library online service's ID, and you would like to change the ID from ECS-ID to SPS-ID, please submit an Application for MyKULINE to one of the accepting.
MyKULINEI'm an alumni. Can I use MyKULINE?Sorry but Alumni can not use MyKULINE.
MyKULINEHow can I change my registered email?Please come to any library. It is not possible to change your email online.

MyKULINEWhen I apply for book reservation or ILL service, I cannot log in MyKULINE.It is possible the pop-up blocker on your PC browser prevent you from proceeding any further. It is necessary to use pop-up function when you apply for book reservation, ILL services, or new arrival alert from MyKULINE. Please disable pop-up blocker and accept pop-ups in your browser or on your PC. For further information, please see FAQ "When the Pop-up Blocker is enabled, it blocks me from applying for book reservation or ILL service."
MyKULINEWhen I try to extend the due date of books I borrowed thorough MyKULINE, the due date was not updated.When you extend through MyKULINE the due date of books you borrowed, the due date will be updated, starting from the renewed date. Please note that such online renewals do not extend the original due date.
mobile KULINEThe characters are garbled.Some model show garbage character when you view a detailed information, but you can execute functions.
