436 of 437 items released this time were digitized under the “Project to Build an International Collaborative Research Network for Pre-modern Japanese Texts” by the National Institute of Japanese Literature in which Kyoto University Library participates.

As of March 12, 2026, Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive provides 2,214,023 images of 26,788 titles.

 

[Library Network] Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive: 135 items from Zokyo Shoin Collection have been newly digitized and released

Zokyo Shoin Collection held by the Main Library consists of Buddhist sutras and books collected from the archives of temples by a publisher in Kyoto. Among these, 135 items from Zokyo Shoin-bon have been newly digitized and released.

As of March 5, 2026, Kyoto University Rare Materials Digital Archive provides 2,183,023 images of 26,042 titles.
The digitization of part of Zokyo Shoin Collection is supported by Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (JP25HP8001).

・Those who have borrowed books from other universities, the deadline for returning them is Wednesday, 18 March.

・If you will be enrolled after April, please indicate that in the comments on your application.

As the academic year draws to a close, why not take a moment to reflect on your studies and research at Kyoto University? We imagine books have always been a constant presence. For you,

• The books that shaped who you are today
• The books that shaped your research
• The books you want to talk about their appeal

...what are they?
We have collectively named them “Core Books.”

Please introduce one of your cherished Core Books.

Fill out and submit the following questionnaires (https://forms.gle/hcwrfREWr36eQCLW6) to display the "keyword." At the Library Counter 2, show the “Keyword” screen (displayed on your smartphone) and your student ID to the staff. 

Participants who respond will receive original library goods (not for sale). 

The redemption period is February 16 to March 31.

[Main Library] "Books on Japan" section has been newly established!

The Education Center for Japanese Language and Culture of the ILAS operates a Japanese Language Resource Room to support the learning of our international students.

Main Library has established a new "Books on Japan" section to enable more individuals to access books for Japanese language learning and understanding Japanese culture.
We have carefully selected materials recommended by Centre faculty members. 
Alongside Japanese Language Resource Room, we hope you will find this section useful for your daily studies and research.
