[Library Network] Online Workshop "ProQuest" (Oct. 7 Japanese, Oct. 8 English)
When Did AI Become an Environmental Issue?
— Exploring 40 Years of Technological History through The New York Times × ProQuest
ProQuest is a comprehensive database that allows you to search for and view academic journal articles, newspaper articles, dissertations, and more from around the world.
In this workshop, participants will learn how to search news articles across a long time span by building search queries using various operators.
Using articles from The New York Times, we will trace the development of AI over approximately 40 years and examine
how it has evolved from a technology that imitates the human brain into a form of social infrastructure accompanied by environmental concerns.
Participants will also learn key approaches and basic operations for ongoing topic-based research using ProQuest search functions,
while paying attention to how terminology changes over time.
