[Library Network] KURENAI 20th Anniversary: Special Event "Open Access Caravan" - Seminars & Consultations

To directly support researchers in addressing their questions and challenges regarding Open Access, we are holding the "Open Access Caravan."

The event features mini-seminars offering concise explanations on immediate OA compliance and APC discounts, as well as individual consultation sessions where staff will answer your specific questions.

Researchers and graduate students are, of course, welcome, as well as lab secretaries and administrative staff. Please feel free to join us!

1. Event Overview

  • Target Audience: Graduate students, early-career researchers, lab secretaries, administrative staff, etc. (*For campus members only)
  • Format: In-person (*Hybrid format with online streaming for the Katsura Library venue only)
  • Please register via Google Form. On-site participation on the day is also welcome if seats are available.

2. Dates & Venues

Two sessions will be held per day at each venue (the content is identical for both sessions).

  1. Yoshida-Minami Library: Friday, October 30, 2026
    • ① 12:30–13:30 (Seminar 12:30-13:00 / Consultation 13:00-13:30)
    • ② 15:00–16:00 (Seminar 15:00-15:30 / Consultation 15:30-16:00)
    • Venue: Yoshida-Minami Library 1F Learning Commons West
  2. Katsura Library: Friday, November 6, 2026 [*Hybrid Event]
    • ① 12:30–13:30 (Seminar 12:30-13:00 / Consultation 13:00-13:30)
    • ② 15:00–16:00 (Seminar 15:00-15:30 / Consultation 15:30-16:00)
    • Venue: Katsura Library 2F Ishida Research Commons (+ Zoom streaming)
  3. Main Library: Friday, November 13, 2026
    • ① 12:30–13:30 (Seminar 12:30-13:00 / Consultation 13:00-13:30)
    • ② 15:00–16:00 (Seminar 15:00-15:30 / Consultation 15:30-16:00)

3. Program

1. Mini-Seminar (Approx. 30 min each)

  • Overview of immediate OA for research grants (such as KAKENHI) and the role of KURENAI
  • Kyoto University Open Access Policy
  • How to take advantage of APC discounts
  • First steps in publishing research data
  • Featured content highlight on KURENAI

2. Individual Consultation Session (Approx. 30 min after each seminar)

Our specialized staff will answer your questions and assist with registration procedures, such as "How do I register co-authored papers?", "What if I only have a printed copy?", or "How do I use the KURENAI Deposit Support System?"

* You are also very welcome to participate in only the mini-seminar or only the consultation session.

4. Participation Benefits & Registration

Seminar participants, survey respondents, and consultation attendees will receive 20th-anniversary original novelty items.
