[Katsura Library] New collection "Diversity & Inclusion Books" has been released!
Katsura Library has made the new collection "Diversity & Inclusion Books." (abbr. D&I Books)
"Diversity" means being composed of different races, genders, career backgrounds, skills, etc.
And "inclusion" is the practice of providing everyone with equal access to opportunities and resources.
"Diversity & Inclusion Books" is the collection about gender gap, gender equality, human rights, mental health, and so on.
Let's deepen your knowledge of these social issues!

【Katsura Library】National Diet Library, Japan, the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries
It is available The Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries provided by the National Diet Library, Japan (NDL) at Katsura Library.
This service allows users to view and copy digital images of materials digitized by the NDL that are difficult to obtain due to out-of-print issues at Kyoto University Katsura Library.
Those who can use this service are only Kyoto University members. Please see below for details.

【Katsura Library】Restricting the use of Non-Kyoto University Members (From January 24)

[Katsura Library] Nagao Collection has been established.
Katsura Library has opened the Nagao collection, which was donated by Professor Emeritus Makoto Nagao.
The Nagao collection holds about 5,000 books on informatics, linguistics, philosophy, calligraphy, and so on.

[Katura Library] Group activity in the Research Commons
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Research Commons was used as the space exclusively for self-study,
but it can now be used for collaborative research and learning in groups of up to four people.
The open lab in the next room can only be used by one person for personal use.
Please use it.

【Faculty of Engineering Libraries in Yoshida】Temporary start of operation of new libraries (11/15 -)
The five libraries of the Graduate School of Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering at Yoshida Campus have been reorganized and relocated based on the relocation plan.
From Monday, November 15, 2021, we will start temporary operation at the following two new libraries.
As a result, The Library of Architecture (1st floor of the Reseach Bldg. No.5), The Electrical and Electronic Engineering Library (4th floor of the Building No.4 of Electorical Engineering, while The Library of Global Engineering is temporarily relocated), and The Library of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (5th floor of the Faculty of Engineering Integrated Research Bldg.) will be closed.
■The North Library, Graduate School of Engineering and Faculty of Engineering
- Approximately 12,000 open stacks of global, architectural, and electrical books and reading room functions are consolidated.
- Opening hours: 9:00-17:00 on weekdays
- Number of seats: 16 (8 for the time being to prevent infection)
- Access : West Side of 3rd Floor, the Building No.4 of Electorical Engineering
■The South Library, Graduate School of Engineering and Faculty of Engineering
- Collected approximately 6,000 open stacks of physical and chemical books, a reading room function, and approximately 47,000 archives of all 5 old libraries.
Approximately 12,000 open stacks of global, architectural, and electrical books and reading room functions are consolidated. - Opening hours: 9:00-17:00 on weekdays
- Number of seats: 41 (22 for the time being to prevent infection)
- 1st Floor, Faculty of Engineering Engineering Depts. Bldg.
Attention
For the time being, the KULINE will display five existing library locations (Eng. Global(Yoshida), Eng. Arch. (Yoshida), Eng. Phys. (Yoshida), Eng. Elec. (Yoshida), Eng. Chem. (Yoshida)).
It will take some time to use the "Temporarily Relocating" sign, so please use the "Reservation" button of KULINE to reserve in advance.
