May. 1 renewed [Katsura Library & Libraries of Faculty of Engineering (Yoshida)] Preventive Measures against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Dear Users,

Although we always hope to provide you with the best experience, Kyoto University Katsura Library & Libraries of Faculty of Engineering (Yoshida) currently limit the services and the use of library facilities in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There is also a possibility that we need to further restrict our services, including shortening opening hours and closing the entire facility, depending on the changing public health situations. Please check the updates on our website, Twitter, etc.

We sincerely apologize the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your kind cooperation.

■PERIOD: From Apr. 6, 2020 until the date to be determined

Yoshida Campus 5 Libraries】Closed.

Katsura Library】Open partially restricting the services.

  • Those suspected to be infected are not admitted to the library.
  • We also ask those with symptoms typically caused by COVID-19 to refrain from visiting the library.The symptoms include fever, cough, sneezing and fatigue.
  • Admission to the library is limited to Kyoto University members (excluding graduates and retired faculty and staff) only.
  • Please read your student ID card or IC authentication card when entering or leaving the library.

■Please cooperate in measures against infectious diseases including COVID-19.

  • Wash your hands
  • Wear a mask

  • Keep a distance from other users in the reading rooms

■Rare/semi-rare materials service suspension

  • Libraries of Faculty of Engineering suspend the use of all the materials stored in the rare materials storage and the semi-rare materials storage.
  • Please contact Katsura library about how to use the thesis.

■About 5 Libraries of Faculty of Engineering in Yoshida campus

We will close 5 Libraries of Faculty of Engineering in Yoshida campus from Apr. 6, 2020 until the day to be determined.
If you want to borrow books in these libraries, please send your request through a web form.

Search on KULINE and check the title, holding Library and material ID.

Write your name, student ID, title(s), volume number(s) and item ID(s) clearly in your e-mail.

  • Books held in Yoshida 5 libraries are handed over at the Library of Architecture(Yoshida). We will let you know by email when the materials are ready.
  • Please use the return boxes to return books. You can return books of the Graduate School of Engineering anywhere in the Yoshida 5 libraries except Electrical and Electronic Engineering Library (Because the building is locked).
  • Materials can be returned by postal mail or other delivery services if they are packed appropriately so that they are not damaged in transit.(Users are to pay the delivery fee.)

■About the Katsura Library

  • We will shorten the opening time to 9: 00 - 17: 00.
  • We ask those with the following symptoms to refrain from visiting the library.

  • Admission to the library is limited to Kyoto University members (excluding graduates and retired faculty and staff) only.
  • Please read your student ID card or IC authentication card when entering or leaving the library.

  • In order to shorten the time spent in the Library, we accept reservations. Please search on KULINE, check the title and material ID, and apply from the following form.
  • Please use the return box next to the main gate on the 2nd floor. You can use return box even if the library is open.
