Troubleshooting Common E-resources Problems
If you have problems accessing e-journals, e-books and databases, there are several general points that you should always check first.
Are the E-resources under maintenance?
- You cannot access E-resource during the maintenance. Please check the maintenance news at: Kyoto University Library Network.
Does the Library’s subscription to an e-journal cover the time period you require?
- You will only have access to full-text articles from within the subscription time period. If the article you are looking for falls outwith this period then access to full-text material will not be available. You can find out the subscription time period for each journal title using A to Z list or KULINE.

- Title of the e-journal/e-book/database and its URL
- Title of the article, title of the journal, volume and issue number, publication date and page
- Error message
- Access route
- Your operating system and its version
- Your browser and its version
- What is the version of your plug-in system?
- On-campus or off-campus
- When does the problem occur?
