The acceptance rule for inquiry

It depends on the following rules whether we accept user’s inquiries.

We can only accept inquiries about the following from non-Kyoto University members:

  1. About the results of scientific research at Kyoto University
  2. About the materials which Kyoto University hold
  3. We can refuse a time-consuming research.
  4. As a general rule, we are not able to answer sending reproductions of materials.

We cannot accept inquiries about the following:

  1. Research which may result in an invasion of privacy
  2. Research of articles and photographs without a viable search method
  3. Making exhaustive bibliographies
  4. Consult actions about law, medical care and medication

In the following cases, we cannot answer but may provide you with or guide you to materials:

  1. Interpreting, annotating, translating, quoting materials
  2. Inquiries regarding the contents of assignments, reports and graduation theses
  3. Inquiries regarding librarians’ inferences, evaluation of research, forecasts and so on
  4. Inquiries regarding the appraisal of old and rare books, old documents, work of art, antiques, and so on
  5. Inquiries regarding selling books
